The drums on the left

Every time there is a new medium, there’s an excessive use of it, and everyone wants to make it blunt. When stereo was introduced—with the Beatles, for example—you could hear drums on the left, singing on the right, and it didn’t make sense musically. But, as time went on, people started to use stereo in ways that enhanced the music…We have to break out of the gimmicky use of interactivity, and make sure it is used to enhance a story. We are in the days of “Put the drums on the left.” But we’re moving to where we don’t have to do that. People, in general, are ready for this.
