David Rabe

Violence, I had come to believe, is almost never conceptually or formally contained and limited to its appropriate, designated targets. In other words, it is not rational. It is not mechanical. The well-made play reflects the Newtonian clockwork universe. What I was after is more like nuclear fission in which the explosion of something minuscule unlooses catastrophic, ungovernable devastation.

  2. I’m a big fan of Rabe’s In the Boom Boom Room, a play which doesn’t get produced much anymore, but is still quite relevant.

  3. Rabe’s thoughts on theater in general are fascinating: he’s someone whose insights are consistently useful and stimulating.
