Quote of the Day

with 2 comments

Thomas Wolfe

Will you please have Mr. Darrow send me a statement of whatever money is due me? [After reading the reviews for Look Homeward, Angel] I shall not write any more books, and since I must begin to make other plans for the future, I should like to know how much money I will have.

Thomas Wolfe, in a letter to Maxwell Perkins

  1. Reminds me of W. B. Yeats. On being told he’d won the Nobel Prize for Fiction in 1923, he asked, “How much?” Interesting blog and you’ve given me an idea with the ‘quote of the day’. Thank you.

    Spoken like a true writer.
